Many of Nebraska's hardworking parents continue to face the difficult challenge of meeting the high cost of child care for their youngest children. State lawmakers passed a tax credit package last year that includes the refundable Child Care Tax Credit, offering qualifying families a $1,000 or $2,000 credit per child in care age 5 or younger. Businesses are in a unique position to help their employees understand and apply for the credit so they can claim it on their 2024 state tax return. We've outlined some simple steps employers can take to help get the word out about this opportunity to help young families in a meaningful way.
