October 2025 - Core Essential Knowledge

Core Essential - December 2025

JOY

“Joy to the World…” As we head into the Christmas season, we will hear and talk alot about Joy, but we all know that for a variety of reasons, this time may not always “feel” joyous. This month we will be talking about how Joy can be a “mindset” rather than a feeling!

This month we will about, “Finding a way to be happy even when things don’t go your way.” How can you model for your children being filled with “Joy” even when the batch of Christmas cookies burns, or a Christmas plan falls through because of the weather, or you open all your presents and you didn’t get that one thing you were really hoping would be there?

We find our Joy not in feelings or cicumstances, but in knowing that Jesus was born in a manger, lived and died saving US from an eternity without him. Now THAT is a Joy we can sing about!

Family Challenge: Encourage your family members to break out into a rousing rendition of "Joy to the World" any time you have something not go your way this Christmas season.

Core Essential - "Knowledge"

This October, our Core Essential Word is "Knowledge: Learning something new so you can be better at whatever you do."

As as school, we spend a lot of time imparting knowledge to the students who have been entrusted to our care. As educators, we strive to create "life-long learners". What we mean by that is we want your children to learn not just facts, but to develop a strong desire for knowledge so they can continue to grow as responsible members of our community.

Knowledge of facts and stats isn't a value - it is what you do with that knowledge that is important. "So you can be better at whatever you do."

Family Challenge:

This year's theme verse, really helps put this into context. "Blessed to Serve!" 1 Peter 4:10. Take some time this month to read through 1 Peter 4:10. By this point some of your children may have it memorized. How can we use the knowledge that we gain at school to better serve those around us?
